Testing New Equipment
When testing equipment on a site for the first time you will need to create new equipment on the tester. To create new equipment on the tester:
- Create a site name or use an existing site on the tester. You must select the correct site or the new records will be mixed in with another site.
- Select the correct user from the users list. If no users exist then a user name will need to be created.
- Check the auto generate number if you are planning to use the auto generate feature.
- Fill in the new details in the details menu. When creating equipment the location and description details are kept for the next piece of equipment if doing multiples of the same equipment type.
- Do a visual check on the item and perform the test on the equipment. The test category automatically remembered based on the test selected in the test menu. This is downloaded as part of the download information.
- Once tested determine if the item needs retesting.
- Place the tag on the lead.
At any point the data can be downloaded to the PC with WinPATS™. If data is downloaded multiple times the updated equipment is ignored.
Retesting Existing Equipment
Before retesting any equipment you must upload any existing site data from WinPATS™. The items that are due for testing need to be uploaded but it is quicker to upload the whole site. If this is not done the TnT® G4-Series will report "no equipment found" when scanning a barcode. To retest equipment:
- Select the correct site from the sites page. If the tester is in another site it will not find the barcode.
- Select the correct user from the users list.
- Scan or enter the barcode number found on the old tag.
- Once scanned the details menu will be shown. At this point the details can be changed about the item. These details will be updated when they are transferred to WinPATS™.
- Perform a visual check on the item.
- If the equipment has a previous test category it will display an auto menu to retest with the same test category. If it's incorrect it can be changed.
- Once tested determine if the item needs retesting.
- Place the tag on the lead.
At any point the data can be downloaded to the PC with WinPATS™. If data is downloaded multiple times the updated equipment is ignored.
Completion of Testing
All sites that have been tested should be downloaded at this point. It is important to download the results and CHECK that the results have been updated. Once the database has been checked we recommend you remove the site from the tester to save memory space on the tester. Only do this if you have successfully downloaded the equipment and no more testing is required until the next testing period. The equipment is not automatically removed in case of a download error.
The TnT® G4-Series memory has a limited amount of space for each equipment test results. If the previous test results are not removed when the next testing is due there might be insufficient space to store the new test results. This is the reason why WinPATS™ downloads the equipment and test results but does not upload previous test results.
WinPATS™ only updates the equipment that has test records assigned to it. If the equipment is downloaded into a blank database only the equipment that has been tested will be shown. This does not mean that the records have been deleted. You should always download into the correct database.
